USING THE GRID METHOD FOR DRAWING

Here you have the project just in case you need to print it out.

We can use the same method to distort an image.
Do you know anything about anamorphosis?

An anamorphosis is a deformed image that appears in its true shape when viewed in some "unconventional" way.
We can find many examples on our daily life, the most common use of the anamorphic design is by far in road markings.
We have to see those marks from our vehicles in such a low point of view that they are going to be percieved distorted and shorter than they actually are.

Julian Beaver is a well known street artist. He has made pavement drawings all over the world for many years.
Anamorphic illusions drawn in a special distortion in order to create an illusion of 3 dimensions when seen from one particular point of view.

Here you have an easy project.

Optical illusions and visual perception from ESTER ALONSO

DRAGON ILLUSION

This is a wonderful optical illusion. This little dragon is made out of paper. You cut it out and stick it together, and stand it on a table. When you move around, the dragon´s head seems to follow you around the room. Have a look at the video to see what I mean.

How does it work?
If we move around when viewing a solid object, our brain knows how the object we are looking at should behave. However the dragon gives us the wrong clues, because we mis-interpret what its shape is. We assume that the nose of the dragon is pointing out towards us. but in fact the dragon´s head is concave.
If you want to try this illusion yourself, download the file and print it out. Notice that the instructions for folding and cutting out the dragon are included.
